About Our Trips

Here you will find general information about our trips including a typical trip itinerary, a sample menu, and what you can expect from your guides.

General Information:

Packraft Adventure Canada aims to provide guests with an incredible wilderness experience, a chance to disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with the natural world. We value respect for individuals, environmental sustainability, inclusive communities, and healthy living - among the many things we strive to provide in our business practices. Packraft Adventure Canada is dedicated to the adventure sport of packrafting and helping people connect to themselves and nature by way of these versatile river craft.

Our trips are designed to give guests the chance to learn new skills and challenge themselves in a safe and comfortable environment. We plan trips to allow for plenty of down time and relaxation, while also having a true wilderness adventure experience on the river. Our days are typically moderate in length, involving 3-5 hours of paddling - sometimes more depending on how many rapids we will encounter. There is a physical component to the trips offered by Packraft Adventure Canada, so being active in your regular day-to-day life is recommended before participating in a trip with us.

Guest requirements: Packraft Adventure Canada focuses on whitewater and moving water river trips, therefor non-swimmers are not recommended to participate in our trips. All guests will be required to wear a lifejacket at all times while paddling; helmets will be required at all times while paddling or scouting rapids.

Due to the sometimes physically and emotionally challenging nature of some of our experiences, our trips are not necessarily suitable for children or teenagers. At this time we are only accepting participants who under 18 years of age if they are accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian.

Custom trips: Packraft Adventure Canada is happy to create and design custom trips for groups, individuals or organizations. We have a wealth of experience designing and planning wilderness trips and will be happy to sort out the logistics for your adventure. If you would like to discuss the possibility of a custom trip please contact us, we will put together an initial proposal for you based on your requirements/desires.

Itinerary of a Typical Trip Day:

Wilderness trips can be affected by many different unknowns - weather, water levels and unforeseen events - that can change travel plans in unexpected ways. At the same time, while exploring new locations and environments it’s important to be flexible and allow time to see the sights - check out a waterfall, swim in an incredible location, take photos etc. For these reasons its possible that a trip day will look quite different from the one listed below.

Morning: The guides will rise around 6:30 a.m. and begin preparations for breakfast, get the coffee and tea on and start a campfire (when no fire ban is in place). Guests are free to rise when they feel like it, though a leisurely breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m. Around 9 a.m. guides will begin overseeing the process of breaking camp and preparing for the day’s travel. Once the boats are packed up, we will stretch and review the day’s route, then begin our paddle.

Midday: Our morning paddle will last a couple of hours, including time for exploring any scenic locations on the river and scouting any rapids. Around 12:30 p.m. we’ll break for a riverside lunch. Relax and swim during the break. Lunch will usually last for about an hour at which point we’ll resume our river travel.

Afternoon: Another 2-3 hours of paddling should see us to our destination in camp. Depending on the progress we may take the time to stop and play in a rapid, giving you the opportunity to practice and learn new skills and have fun in the whitewater! Guides will scout as we travel for ideal campsite locations and, upon selecting a site, lead guests in the process of setting up camp. While guests work on their personal gear and tent setup, guides will prepare the hand washing station, group shelters, cook area, and fire preparations. You will have the opportunity to relax, swim, read, write, explore the area around camp and take pictures, assist guides in the collection of firewood - whatever you feel like!

Evening: Guides will prepare an appetizer for you to enjoy as they work on cooking the main meal. Each dinner will consist of an app, a main course, and a desert along with tea and coffee if desired. This is the perfect time for you to enjoy any beverages you brought along with you. After dinner guides will clean up and organize camp while guests have the opportunity to relax around a campfire to tell stories and reminisce about the day’s events.

Night: Guides will often retire before guests, usually around 9:30-10 p.m. You are welcome to stay around the campfire or take the opportunity to star-gaze and enjoy the wonders of the night sky. It is recommended to turn in before midnight to ensure a good nights sleep for the adventures to come!
