Packraft Adventure Canada

Established in late 2020, Packraft Adventure Canada aims to introduce people to the world of packrafting, with a focus on whitewater river trips. In our journey thus far we’ve had the pleasure of meeting lots of awesome folks who continue to inspire us! We’ve had the pleasure of paddling some wild rivers, and gained new insight to make our trips and courses even better. We are dedicated to delivering outstanding wilderness experiences to guests and promoting packrafting in Canada.

Our Vision:

“To be a leader in the outdoor tourism industry in Canada specialized in packrafting trips, whitewater packrafting fundamentals, and the promotion and enjoyment of paddle sports.”

Our Mission:

“To provide guests with a safe and exhilarating wilderness experience while encouraging meaningful connections to the natural world, nurturing an inclusive community of paddlers, and promoting sustainable and ecologically mindful travel practices.”

Our guiding principles:

  • Community - creating an open, inclusive, and supportive community of paddlers and paddling enthusiasts

  • Safety - meeting or exceeding industry standard safety practices

  • Sustainability - finding ways to make our efforts sustainable and minimize our environmental footprint

  • Conservation - promoting and contributing to the preservation and protection of important wild spaces

  • Active Living - encouraging healthy, active lifestyles, involving daily physical activity and enjoyment of the outdoors

Alex Hanes

Alex has been working in the outdoors for more than 15 years, guiding whitewater canoeing, wilderness canoeing, and coastal kayaking trips in various parts of Canada.

During a 27 day solo journey in northern Ontario, Alex discovered a love for packrafting. After purchasing his first packraft ‘Peanut’, he decided that these incredible boats needed to be further introduced to the world. Packraft Adventure Canada was created to share the versatility and exhiliration of packrafting with people wanting to experience the most beautiful wilderness rivers in Canada.

“There are very few guiding companies in Canada that offer packrafting trips, so I thought it was time someone filled that niche. Packraft Adventure Canada was born out of a love of wilderness tripping and a desire to introduce others to the joy of packrafting - I love these boats, I’m sure plenty of other folks will too.”

Alex is a certified Wilderness First Responder, Whitewater Rescue Technician, ORCKA Canoe Tripping Instructor and Coastal Kayak Instructor. His future goals include developing packraft specific certifications and guiding packraft adventures in the far north.
